It all started in Japan…

Be Queerful was born in Kyoto at 10.00pm in the Starbucks. To be specific – because there are many! – it was the one on the corner of Sanjo and Karasuma street. The idea came from my passion for teaching yoga and researching gender & sexuality. Combine this with the dream of a world where nobody has to feel ashamed, good company of friends & expensive soy-cappuccino and… voilà!

Hiya, I’m Asa

“When I’m old I’ll still live in the same village. I’ll be an artist. Unmarried. Having 4 kids and driving an Opel car.”
At 7 years old, I did not imagine being called gay and eventually coming out as a transgender & non-binary person

Going to the art academy started that adventure. What’s more,
I got to live in 5 countries & taught at 10+ yoga studios, went to university for gender studies & Japanese, married my high school sweetheart and adopted a rescued bird. Labels did not stop me from leading the life I wanted & I support you to do the same.
